SMS Consent Flow

How eMarGator collects consent to send scheduling text messages. This page is published so that carrier and messaging-registration reviewers can verify an opt-in flow that lives inside the authenticated eMarGator mobile app.

SMS consent is collected inside the authenticated eMarGator mobile application, under Settings → Scheduling text messages. Only signed-in staff members of an agency that uses eMarGator can reach this screen; there is no public web form and no way to be opted in by anyone other than the staff member themselves.

The exact text shown to the user#

The consent control is a checkbox that is unchecked by default and never pre-checked. Checking it is the act of consent. Its label reads:

“I agree to receive text messages (SMS) from eMarGatorabout my work schedule and shift coverage”

Directly beneath the checkbox, this disclosure is shown:

“By checking this box, I agree to receive recurring text messages (SMS) from eMarGatorabout my work schedule and shift coverage at the mobile number on my staff record. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.”

Followed by:

“Text messages are optional and not a condition of using eMarGator. You can turn them off here at any time. Turning them off does not change your schedule or your notifications in the app.”

The opt-in screen#

This is the screen exactly as a staff member sees it, before opting in:

The eMarGator settings screen: an unchecked checkbox labeled "I agree to receive text messages (SMS) from eMarGator about my work schedule and shift coverage", followed by the full SMS disclosure.

Properties of the flow#

  • The checkbox is unchecked by default and is never pre-checked.
  • Consent is specific to text messages. It is collected separately from acceptance of the eMarGator Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • Consent is optional and not a condition of using eMarGator or of employment; declining costs the staff member nothing.
  • Consent can be revoked at any time, either by unchecking the box in the same screen or by replying STOP to any message.
  • Messages are transactional scheduling notifications only — no marketing. The program is described in full in the SMS Terms.
